Cooling Water Flow Monitoring |
Temperature control in the chemical process industry can be one of the most important and difficult applications that process engineers face. Controllers using proportional band, reset (integral), and derivative (PID) control programs are difficult to set up and tune properly. Any flow-based temperature loop must have flow devices that are extremely repeatable so the controllers can function properly.
THE BROOKS SOLUTION
Rotameters are very repeatable and cost-effective. In a typical water flow application, the Brooks GT1000 with a low flow alarm can alert a programmable logic (PID) controller that a low flow condition exists. The PLC or PID controller can then take corrective action (such as switching on a back-up pump, opening a valve, sounding audible alarms, etc.).
This flow loop will ensure that the reactor in question will have the supply of cooling water necessary to keep the process within the prescribed limits established by the process control engineers.
